Claude Dashboards and Motion: Which Plan Do You Need? (October 2026)

🆕 Latest Update: October 11, 2026

Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta on October 8, 2026. Dashboards is in beta on Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only, and Anthropic’s pricing table shows it unticked on Free, Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x. Docs, Slides and Design are out of beta on every plan, including Free. Based on Anthropic’s own pricing, help-center and announcement pages and our research.

Claude Motion is not on Claude Pro or Max. Claude Dashboards is. That one difference decides whether Anthropic’s new October 8 features are worth anything to you, and it is easy to miss because both launched together as “in beta.” This guide to Claude Dashboards and Motion uses Anthropic’s own pricing table, help-center articles and launch post, read on October 10 and 11, 2026, to answer four questions: what each feature does, what Dashboards needs before it works, which plan includes each, and what the cheapest way in costs.

⚡ TL;DR: The Bottom Line

What They Are: Claude Dashboards turns plain-language questions about your company’s data into dashboards. Claude Motion turns your content into short animations built as code, exported as MP4. Both are in beta.

Which Plan: Dashboards: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Motion: Team and Enterprise only, not Free, Pro or Max.

Our Take: Dashboards DEPENDS: it starts from connected data, meaning a data warehouse or an app. Motion: SKIP unless you are already on Team or Enterprise, because no individual plan (Free, Pro or Max) includes it.

⚠️ The Catch: Both count toward your plan’s usage limits, and Anthropic’s pages give no figure for how much a dashboard or an animation uses.

🔍 REALITY CHECK

Marketing Claims: “Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion are now in beta.” (Anthropic, October 8)

What It Really Means: The beta is not one beta. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans, from Pro up. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise only, so a Pro or Max subscriber who upgrades hoping for Motion gets nothing.

Verdict: Check the pricing table before you upgrade for either feature. No individual plan includes Motion.

Counting plan families makes the gap between the two features easy to see:

📊 How Many of the 5 Plan Families (Free, Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) Include Each Feature

💡 Key Insight: Dashboards is on 4 of Claude’s 5 plan families (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise). Motion is on 2 (Team and Enterprise). Docs, Slides and Design are on all 5. Counts are ours, from Anthropic’s pricing table and help pages.

📊 Claude Dashboards: What It Does and What You Need First

A Claude dashboard is a data dashboard that Claude builds for you from data you have connected. Anthropic’s help page puts it in one sentence: “Claude Dashboards turn questions about your company’s data into dashboards. Connect a data warehouse or another app, ask a question in plain language, and Claude writes the queries and builds the dashboard.” Each chart is built from a SQL query that Claude writes and runs against your data source, and each chart shows its query and when its data was last refreshed.

What You Must Connect First

This is the catch in the name “Dashboards.” The help page says: “Before you create a dashboard, connect the data you want to ask about.” It names two kinds of source:

  • A data warehouse: Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, ClickHouse, Databricks or Snowflake.
  • Apps you have already connected to Claude: for example, a dashboard of your Salesforce opportunities.

Anthropic’s help page names no other starting point, so without a warehouse or a connected app you cannot start a dashboard from that page’s instructions. That is why we call Dashboards a DEPENDS rather than a yes.

How to Make a Dashboard

Anthropic lists three ways to start: ask Claude for a dashboard in any chat, choose Output in the message box and pick Dashboards, or open the Artifacts tab and select a Dashboards template. Its example prompts include “Build a dashboard of this quarter’s revenue by region” and “Show weekly signups for the last six months, split by plan.” Its tip is to say what you want to know, not just what to chart. Every dashboard is saved in the Artifacts tab, dashboards start private to you, and you click Share to share one.

You can also send a dashboard on. Anthropic’s launch post lists Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, Omni, Perplexity, PostHog and Sigma, with Looker, monday.com and Tableau coming soon.

🔍 REALITY CHECK

Marketing Claims: Dashboards “are made for quick, exploratory questions.” (Anthropic’s help page)

What It Really Means: That sentence also tells you what it is not: Anthropic says that when a question needs deeper analysis, you should send the dashboard to another tool and continue there. The help page publishes no refresh frequency and no data limits.

Verdict: Treat it as a fast first look at connected data, not a replacement for your reporting stack.

🎬 Claude Motion: Animations Built as Code (Team and Enterprise Only)

Claude Motion “turns your content into short animations, like an explainer for an all-hands, an animated chart for a board deck, or a product walkthrough for customer onboarding,” according to Anthropic’s help page. Its example prompts are “Turn this quarterly report into a 30-second explainer for our all-hands” and “Animate how our pricing plans compare, for the sales kickoff.”

Anthropic’s help article says an animation is an artifact made from the Motion template. The detail that matters for expectations: Claude builds each animation “as code that animates the text, charts, shapes, and images in it, and it plays like a short video.” Anthropic adds that Motion “doesn’t use a video generation model, so it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.” Because each animation is code, you can change one detail, such as a word, a number or the timing, and the rest stays as it was. You can ask Claude for changes in the chat or edit it yourself in the editor, and to download one, you click Export and choose MP4. Animations start private to you.

To take an animation further, Anthropic’s launch post says you can open it in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon, and describes Motion as “built for explaining your own work.”

💡 Key Takeaway: Motion is for explaining your own numbers and plans as short MP4s, not for making footage. No individual plan (Free, Pro or Max) includes it: Anthropic’s pricing table shows it unavailable on all four, and the entry point is Team.

💰 Getting Motion: Team Plan Maths

Anthropic’s pricing page lists the Team plan “for teams of 2 to 150” with two seat types: a Standard seat at $20 per seat a month if billed annually ($25 if billed monthly), and a Premium seat at $100 a month annually ($125 monthly) with 5x more usage than standard seats. The Team card lists “Claude Motion and Dashboards (beta).” If two seats is the minimum, as “teams of 2 to 150” implies, then the lowest-priced Team route to Motion is 2 Standard seats: $40 a month billed annually or $50 billed monthly. That is our arithmetic from Anthropic’s prices, not a number Anthropic states.

Enterprise is priced differently: Anthropic lists “Seat price + usage at API rates,” which is US$20 per seat a month billed annually, with usage cost scaling with model and task. The pricing page we read states no seat minimum for Enterprise. On Enterprise, Dashboards and Motion are off by default until an owner turns them on in Organization settings under Artifacts.

📈 Monthly Cost of Each Route (USD, List Price)

💡 Key Insight: Pro at $20 monthly gets Dashboards but not Motion. Two Team Standard seats at $40 annual or $50 monthly get both. Team totals are our arithmetic and assume a 2-seat minimum.

🆓 What You Get on Free: Docs, Slides and Design

The good news for everyone is in the same launch post: “Docs, Slides, and Design are out of beta and on every Claude plan, including Free.” Anthropic says people have made more than 45 million docs, decks and designs in Claude, and Anthropic’s pricing table ticks Design, Slides and Docs on all four individual plans. Two dates matter. The standalone Claude Design site stays at claude.ai/design “until December 14, so you have time to move over,” and for Enterprise admins, Docs, Slides and Design turn on by default on October 15. For the design tool itself, see our Claude Design review.

🔍 What Anthropic Has Not Published

Both features are beta, and the pages we read on October 10 and 11, 2026 leave out numbers you may want before you commit:

  • Usage: Anthropic says Claude Motion “counts toward your plan’s usage limits, like the rest of your work with Claude,” that Dashboards does the same, and that longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message. It gives no figure for either.
  • Refresh: the Dashboards help page states no refresh frequency, only that each chart shows when its data was last refreshed.
  • Limits: we found no stated cap on data size for Dashboards or on length for Motion animations.
  • Plan lists: both are beta, so the plan list can change. Check the pricing table on the day you buy.

👤 Who Needs Which Plan?

Stay on Free if: you want Docs, Slides and Design. They are on every plan, so there is no reason to pay for them.

Pro ($20 a month, or $17 on the annual plan) makes sense for Dashboards if: you have a warehouse such as BigQuery or Snowflake, or a connected app such as Salesforce, and quick questions about that data come up often. Anthropic’s help page says to connect data first and describes no other source.

Max (from $100 a month) adds nothing for these two features: it includes Dashboards just as Pro does, and no Motion. Anthropic’s pricing page describes Max as 5x or 20x more usage than Pro, so that is its selling point, not Dashboards or Motion.

Team ($20 a seat a month annual, $25 monthly) is the lowest-priced way into Motion: choose it if you already need a team plan, or if animated explainers for your own reports are worth about $40 to $50 a month for two seats. Enterprise also includes Motion.

Enterprise adds both features but turns them off by default until an owner enables them.

❓ FAQs: Your Questions Answered

Q: Is Claude Motion free?

A: No. Anthropic’s pricing table shows Claude Motion (beta) unticked on Free, Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x. Its help page says Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans only.

Q: Does Claude Pro include Claude Motion?

A: No. Claude Pro ($20 a month, or $17 on the annual plan) includes Claude Dashboards in beta but not Claude Motion. Motion is Team and Enterprise only.

Q: Which Claude plans include Claude Dashboards?

A: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, in beta. It is not on the Free plan. On Enterprise it is off by default until an owner turns it on in Organization settings.

Q: How much is Claude Dashboards (Claude Dashboards pricing)?

A: There is no separate price. It is included in Pro ($20 monthly, $17 annual), Max (from $100 a month), Team and Enterprise, and it counts toward your plan’s usage limits.

Q: What is Claude Motion?

A: Claude Motion turns your content into short animations, such as an explainer for an all-hands or an animated chart for a board deck. Claude builds each one as code and you can export it as MP4.

Q: Does Claude Motion make AI video?

A: Not in the usual sense. Anthropic says Motion does not use a video generation model, so it does not create realistic footage or people. It animates text, charts, shapes and images.

Q: How do I use Claude Dashboards?

A: Connect your data first, such as a warehouse like BigQuery or Snowflake or an app like Salesforce. Then ask for a dashboard in any chat, via Output > Dashboards, or from the Artifacts tab.

Q: How much does Claude Motion cost?

A: There is no separate price. Motion comes with Team (two Standard seats come to $40 a month annually or $50 monthly, our arithmetic) and Enterprise ($20 a seat a month plus usage at API rates).

Q: Is Claude Dashboards a replacement for Power BI or Tableau?

A: Anthropic does not say so. It calls dashboards a tool for quick, exploratory questions and says to send them to another tool for deeper analysis. Tableau is listed as coming soon.

Final Verdict: Dashboards Depends, Motion Is for Teams

Claude Dashboards is a real addition for anyone on Pro or Max who already has a warehouse or business app connected: ask a question in plain language and get a dashboard with its query showing. If you have no warehouse or connected app, Anthropic’s help page gives you no way to start one, so it is not a reason to subscribe on its own. Claude Motion is a Team and Enterprise feature, and Anthropic’s pricing table shows it unavailable on Free, Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x, so it is a skip for individuals. The one clear win is that Docs, Slides and Design are now on every plan, including Free.

Verdict: DASHBOARDS DEPENDS, MOTION SKIP (unless you are on Team or Enterprise). Before you pay, check the current plan list on Anthropic’s pricing page, because both features are in beta.
