How much is SuperGrok now? It depends on when you sign up. On October 12, 2026, xAI launched The X Subscription, which “brings together Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor, and X Premium in one plan”, and Cursor’s help page says “New customers, including anyone with only a free X account, start on The X Subscription.” So for a new subscriber, the Grok subscription price is one of the tiers below, listed on x.ai/pricing. Every tier includes a pool of usage shared across Grok and Cursor, and the allowance refreshes weekly. On October 12, xAI said it would make the plans available to everyone globally “over the next few days”.

Already pay for SuperGrok? xAI says “Nothing changes for existing SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium subscribers. You can keep your current plan, price, and features or move to The X Subscription.” So the SuperGrok price you pay stays $30 a month (or $10 for Lite, $100 for SuperGrok Plus, $300 for Heavy). Switching is optional, and Cursor’s help page says it is permanent: your old Cursor, SuperGrok and paid X Premium subscriptions are cancelled at checkout with an automatic prorated refund for unused time (purchases through the App Store or Google Play work differently). Looking for deals on a SuperGrok subscription? xAI says switching “comes with limited-time offers”, shown in your account billing settings; it does not publish their prices.
Which new plan replaces which? xAI names only one match: Premium, at the same $30 as SuperGrok, includes “the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined”. It does not say which tier replaces SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok Plus or SuperGrok Heavy, so don’t read the $8 Plus plan as Lite or the $100 Super plan as SuperGrok Plus. On October 13, grok.com/plans showed only SuperGrok and SuperGrok Heavy, with no prices. xAI says only that each comparable new tier gives more usage per dollar than the plan it replaces. Earlier changes: July to October 8
If you read this guide in July, three things have moved. First, xAI added a fourth paid Grok plan: SuperGrok Plus at $100 a month, sitting between standard SuperGrok ($30) and SuperGrok Heavy ($300). Press reports date its launch to August. Second, the models moved on three times: Grok 4.5 arrived on July 16, then xAI introduced Grok 4.6 on August 12, 2026, and the plans page now opens with “Unlock the full power of Chat with Grok 4.6”. Then on September 21 came Grok 4.7, which xAI calls its most capable model for coding and knowledge work. xAI says 4.7 is available in Grok Build and Cursor; the plans page still names 4.6 for Chat. (xAI’s own news pages now sign these launches as SpaceXAI.) Third, Grok Bot arrived on August 11. xAI calls it “your team of always-on agents”, and standard SuperGrok now lists exclusive access to it.
What did not change between July and October 8: SuperGrok stayed at $30 and Heavy at $300, and SuperGrok Lite at $10. Those are the prices existing subscribers keep after October 12. Annual billing on those plans was simple, too: each cost exactly 10 months of its monthly price per year.

There are now two price lists. If you sign up today, you choose from The X Subscription. If you had a SuperGrok plan before October 12, you keep its price unless you switch.

The usage multiples make the ladder easy to compare. Premium costs 3.75 times Plus for 4 times the usage, Super costs 12.5 times Plus for 15 times, and Ultra costs 25 times Plus for 50 times. By our maths from xAI’s multiples, Ultra gives about twice the usage per dollar of Plus, though xAI notes that usage costs vary by product. What the pricing page doesn’t give is the base: it says only “Limited” and “Basic”, with no message, image or video counts, as of October 21.
Two more details from the same page. Every tier shares one usage pool between Grok and Cursor that refreshes weekly; if you run out, you buy top-ups or wait. And x.ai/pricing lists monthly prices only, with no annual option for any tier.

This is still the most common Grok pricing question, and X’s own help page answers half of it: Premium+ “includes all Premium features with additional benefits like SuperGrok access, Grok Bot, no ads anywhere” on X. 🆓 What Free Grok Gets You (and What xAI Won’t Say)
Before paying any SuperGrok subscription price, it’s worth knowing what free gets you. The honest answer: xAI doesn’t say. The plans page lists no free allowance, and it publishes no message counts for the paid plans either, only relative terms like “2x longer conversations”.
What the plans page does show is where creation is promised. “Try out AI image & video creation” is listed as a perk of the $10 Lite plan, and longer HD video belongs to SuperGrok and above. What a free account can create isn’t stated, so check it in the app. Treat free Grok as a way to try the chat, not as a plan to work in. SuperGrok Lite was the cheapest standalone Grok plan before October 12, and existing subscribers keep it: $10 a month, or $100 a year. xAI’s tagline for it is “Keep chatting with basic access”, and the plans page lists five things it adds:

💡 Key Takeaway: Lite gets you Grok’s best model in Expert mode for $10. What it doesn’t get you is Grok Bot or the longer HD video, which start at $30. If you mostly chat and occasionally make an image, Lite is enough. If you want the agents, it isn’t.
🚀 Is the SuperGrok Subscription Price ($30) Worth It?
The $30 plan is the one xAI labels “Most popular”, and it is the one most readers end up weighing against ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro at $20 each. For the extra $10 a month, here’s what the plans page says you get beyond Lite.
Grok Bot: xAI describes it as agents that “have their own computer, work inside tools and apps like you do, and keep working 24/7”. SuperGrok is worth $30/month if:
- You want Grok Bot’s background agents, which start at this tier among Grok plans
- You use Grok daily and Lite’s 2x allowance runs out
- You make short videos and 720p is good enough
- You don’t need X platform perks
Skip SuperGrok if:
- The $10 Lite tier already covers your chatting

The claim: “5x longer conversations in Chat.”
The fine print: 5x of what? xAI’s plans page publishes no message counts for any plan, free or paid, so there is no number to multiply. The same goes for “significantly higher usage” on Plus and “highest usage” on Heavy. You find your ceiling by hitting it.
✅ Verdict: The ladder is clear about order (Lite < SuperGrok < Plus < Heavy) but silent about quantity. Start on the cheapest tier that has the features you need and move up only when you hit a limit.

🆕 SuperGrok Plus ($100/month): The New Middle Tier
SuperGrok Plus is the new rung: $100 a month, or $1,000 a year. Its tagline is “Significantly higher usage”, and that is the honest summary. On top of everything in SuperGrok, the plans page lists:
- Create 1080p videos (SuperGrok tops out at HD 720p)
- Significantly higher usage across Chat, Imagine, Voice and Build
- Lightning-fast replies and priority access at peak times
- Early access to new features
Notice what’s missing: nothing on the plans page says Plus gets a smarter model than the $30 plan. Expert mode on Lite already promises “our latest, best model”. So the jump from $30 to $100 buys headroom, speed and sharper video, not a different Grok.
That puts Plus in a crowded price bracket. ChatGPT Pro starts at $100 (with $200 and $500 tiers above it), Claude Max starts at $100, and Google AI Ultra is $99.99 a month. All of them sell far more usage than the $20 plans, and some add stronger models too.

Our take: switch if you’d use Cursor (Grok models there draw from the same weekly pool; third-party models cost extra) or the X Premium+ perks. If you pay yearly ($300, or $25 a month), think twice. x.ai/pricing shows monthly prices only. If checkout offers no annual plan either, Premium paid monthly is $360 a year, $60 more. xAI says switching comes with limited-time offers in your billing settings, so check those first; its announcement gives no prices for them.
On SuperGrok Lite, SuperGrok Plus or Heavy, xAI’s announcement doesn’t name a matching new plan; it says only that each comparable new tier gives more usage per dollar than the plan it replaces. On Heavy, Ultra costs $100 a month less, but x.ai/pricing doesn’t compare their usage or say whether Ultra keeps Heavy’s larger agent team.
⚠️ The Grok Safety Crisis: Where It Stands in October 2026
Any honest guide to the SuperGrok subscription price has to cover this, because it is the biggest reason to hesitate. According to lawsuits and police investigations, Grok’s image tools were used to create non-consensual sexual deepfakes, and in the autumn of 2026 that is a live legal story, not a closed chapter.
⚠️ CRITICAL WARNING
The lawsuits: A proposed class action filed on August 18, 2026 alleges xAI “knowingly enabled users to generate child sexual abuse material (CSAM) depicting real children” with Grok Imagine (ClassAction.org). On September 28, a California federal judge refused to pause or move to Texas a separate proposed class action by women suing over Grok-generated sexual deepfakes of them (Law360).
The police side: The Bureau of Investigative Journalism reported on September 29 that police in England and Wales investigating Grok deepfakes have often been unable to identify suspects because “officers’ requests for information from X have not been met” (TBIJ). Earlier, in January, California ordered xAI to stop sexualized outputs of minors.
The regulators: On June 11, Canada’s Privacy Commissioner found that X Corp. and xAI violated Canada’s federal private-sector privacy law. The companies committed to quarterly reports and independent third-party audits of their safeguards.
⚠️ Our take: Text features are a separate question. But if image or video generation is your reason to subscribe, you would be paying into the exact product at the center of these cases.

Is there still a free version of Grok?
Yes. The X Subscription’s Free plan is $0, with “Limited” usage and limited Chat and agent requests; x.ai/pricing gives no number.
Should the safety controversy affect my decision?
If you’d subscribe mainly for image or video generation, yes: that is the feature at the center of the 2026 lawsuits and police complaints. Text-only use is a separate question, but it’s a fair reason to prefer a rival with a cleaner record.
